What is chemsex?
Chemsex is sexual activity under the influence of stimulant drugs. These drugs can include: methamphetamine/crystal meth (tina), mephedrone (4MMC/3MMC/2CMC) and GHB/GBL. It can however include other drugs and typically involves multiple participants.
What is chemsex recovery coaching and how can it help gay men?
Chemsex recovery coaching offers confidential, non-judgmental support for gay men and other LBTQ who want to change their relationship with drugs like crystal meth, GHB, mephedrone (or other types of drugs) used in sexual contexts. It helps you create safer boundaries, rebuild intimacy and find healthier ways to connect — with or without complete sobriety.
How do I stop using GHB, crystal meth or mephedrone in chemsex settings?
Stopping begins with honest support. In coaching, we explore what triggers your use, how it impacts your life and create realistic strategies to help you reduce or stop. You don't have to do it alone.
Can a gay recovery coach help with drug addiction and sexual health?
Yes. A gay recovery coach understands how drug use can be tied to intimacy, identity and trauma. I can support you with guidance around sex, emotional regulation, and creating healthy, shame-free relationships without relying on substances.
What are the signs I need help with chemsex?
It maybe time to seek support if chemsex is leading to sexual or mental health issues, memory lapses, shame, loss of control or not showing up for activities that are usually expected of you e.g. work, friends or family. Coaching can help you gain clarity, set boundaries and feel more empowered.
Is chemsex coaching confidential?
Absolutely. My coaching is confidential, safe and provides an safe LGBTQ+ space. I create a queer space free of shame, stigma or judgement — whether you're exploring harm reduction, sobriety or just need someone to download too.
How long does it take to recover from chemsex addiction?
Recovery is rarely a straight line, with lapse and relapse part of the process, and timelines vary. Some see progress in weeks, while for others it's a longer path. Coaching helps you stay consistent and accountable and helps to build emotional resilience.
What makes LGBTQ+ drug recovery different from regular addiction treatment?
Regular recovery often overlooks the challenges queer people face like shame, trauma, sex and identity. LGBTQ+ recovery coaching is not a one-size-fits-all model and my coaching is uniquely tailored to your situation.
Is coaching right for me if I’ve lapsed or relapsed on crystal meth or GHB?
Yes. Relapse doesn't mean failure. It's actually part of the process and could mean that you need new support if you're not learning from each experience. Coaching offers a fresh, compassionate perspective and practical tools to help you learn from setbacks and move forward.
Can I get sober from chemsex without going to rehab?
Yes, many do. Coaching can be an effective alternative to rehab, especially when combined with community or therapy. We'll work together to build a recovery plan that works for you, your life and your values.
