Gay men bottoming for the first time?
Tips and suggestions for your first experience

🍆 More than just the physical

First time bottoming isn’t just about the act — it’s about intimacy, trust, consent, and communication. Talk about your boundaries, pace, and your comfort. Do it with someone you like and feel safe with. Connection is the goal, not just penetration. It’s okay to feel vulnerable and nervous; talk to your partner.

💦 Preparation matters

Use tepid (not hot) water and a proper douche kit. Everyone likes a clean workspace. Lube the tip if required, go slow, and never force it. A light shower hose can help - but be cautious as too much water = long expulsions. Use a high-quality ‘gay-friendly’ anal lube — water-based or silicone. Stay away from drugstore brands or Durex. You can also use silicone lube - but avoid contact with your sheets. Consider fibre supplements for regular/cleaner digestion if you have issues. Start with average or medium. If your BF or partner is bigger consider anal training kits (dildos in smaller to bigger sizes) if necessary.

👬 Foreplay isn’t optional — it’s essential.

Kisses, massages, rim, get fingered, or use toys. Take your time. Choose a safe location like a bedroom with easy access to lube, lights, showers and towels. Only attempt your first time in relaxed positions like on your back. Your leg position can affect how your butthole clenches. So no acrobatics. Let your body open at its own pace. Stop him thrusting until you’re comfortable. Don’t force anything. If there’s a sharp or sudden pain? Stop, take it out, wait and try again. There’s no rush.

🥰 Protection, prep & Aftercare

Use condoms, talk to your doc about PrEP or/and Doxy-PEP. Get tested regularly — own your own health. Aftercare matters. So check in with your partner. Ask each other how you’re feeling, what felt good and what didn’t. Great sex starts and ends with great communication. 💬.
